Location: Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge is located
in the Brushy Mountains of Western North Carolina
between Lenior and North Wilkesboro just 90 minutes
from Charlotte, NC. There are 2,160 acres of woods,
streams, and trails centered around a private, 140
acre Lake Broyhill. Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge was
founded and developed through the vision of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, Camp Thunderbird, and a Board of Directors made up of leading citzens from the Central Carolinas.

Spiritual Emphasis: Lake YMCA Camp Harrison, a branch of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, is committed to the spiritual and moral growth of our campers.

The Mission of the YMCA of Charlotte is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

Additionally, we at Camp Harrison desire that each camper attending will:

  • Have opportunity to learn about the Bible
  • Grow in Faith and Christian Character: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Honesty, Trust
  • Establish the priorities of Prayer and Christian fellowship.
  • Understand what it means to have a relationship with GOD and eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ, and be given the opportunity to establish this relationship

"Morning Watch" each morning before breakfast, and "Vespers" after the evening program will highlight a Christian Theme and bring the camp community together to honor GOD and Country. Bible stories, Scripture verses, songs, testimonies, the Pledge of Allegiance, and Taps will be some of the tools used in building and strengthening these foundations. Campers will be encouraged and assisted in setting and succeeding in personal challenges and goals.

Our Hope is that each individual's Camp experience will hold not only excitement, fun, and adventure for the now - memories to last for a lifetime.
